Free Workshop Schedule

Free workshops continue to be announced for the Australian Energy Storage Exhibition with Q Cells and  LG Chem added to the program.

Headlining the free workshop program will be the GSES CPD sessions. Across two days, up to 90 CPD points will be awarded for installers and sessions will cover a variety of topics related to on-grid energy storage.

Workshops are a great opportunity to learn more about the industry, ask questions and see emerging products.

All workshops do not need to be registered for separately and come as part of your free exhibition registration. You can register for the free exhibition here.

Workshop program below;

Wednesday 14th June 2017

9:30am – 11:00am

Workshop Presenter – Aaron Bonanno

This course will discuss Work Health and Safety (WHS) as it relates to Grid Connected Energy Systems with Battery Storage (GCBS). This course will also discuss the various balance of Systems (BOS) equipment that are required to construct a GCBS. The course will cover the following information points:

» WHS
• Performing a Site Survey
• Completing a Job Safety Assessment
• Risk Mitigation Methods
• Safe Work Method Statements
• Energy Storage Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
• Energy Storage System Logistics Considerations
• End of life plan for Energy Storage products
» BOS
• Cable Sizing
• Cable Protection
• Circuit Isolation
• Battery Racking and casings
• Sensors
• Emergency Stop
• Fire Proofing
• Safety Barricades

11.00am – 12.00pm

ECOULT – ULTRAFLEX BENEFITS OF BATTERY

Workshop Presenter – Ganesh Ganeshkumar

In this workshop Ecoult will explain the energy and temperature characteristics of the UltraFlex and describe its performance in harsh climates and in high rate partial state of charge energy storage applications. The operation and benefits of the battery, its monitoring systems and inverter connectivity will be explained with reference to various case studies and application areas

12.00pm – 1.30pm

GSES – BATTERY MARKET UPDATE AND BATTERY CONTROL SYSTEM SNAPSHOT,15 CPD Points

Workshop Presenter – Arpit Gandhi

This course will provide an overview of the battery market as it currently stands including technology updates, price reductions and industry consolidation or expansion. The course will also look at battery control systems which so far has been the biggest gap in the battery storage market

2.30pm – 4.00pm

GSES – THE BATTERY UNIVERSE (AS IT CURRENTLY EXISTS) – FLOW BATTERIES SODIUM SULFUR,HYBRID ION,PB-ACID ETC,15 CPD Points

Workshop Presenter – Geoff Stapleton

This course will deal into the construction, applications, safe disposal, charging regimes for different battery technologies available in the marketplace. The battery technologies
to be discussed are:
• Flow batteries
• Sodium Sulfur batteries
• Supercapacitor based Lead batteries
• Hybrid Ion batteries

4.00pm – 5.00pm

ABRI – INDUSTRY GUIDE FOR INSTALLERS

Workshop Presenter – Libby Chaplin

The Australian Battery Recycling Initiative (ABRI) will be providing an overview of a proposed industry guide for installers on responsible recycling and transport of energy storage batteries.
The session will also provide an opportunity for installers to identify issues and solutions they would like included in the guidance.

Thursday 15th June 2017

9.30am – 11.30am

GSES – BATTERY SYSTEM SIZING 15 CPD POINTS

Workshop Presenter – Geoff Stapleton

This course will look at storage at the commercial and residential level, and the ways it can reduce costs for those customers. There will be an emphasis on designing systems that reduce the cost of electricity to system owners, however scenarios will be presented that consider what is required for customers to completely leave the grid.

11.30am – 12.00pm

HANWHA Q CELLS PRODUCT WORKSHOP

Workshop Presenter – Myungsin Shim

Q CELLS is one of the world’s largest and most recognized photovoltaic (PV) manufacturers for its high-performance, high-quality PV cells and modules.
In addition to German engineered, best-in-its-class PV technology, Q CELLS offers the securest warranty among Tier 1 PV module manufacturers.

12.00pm – 1.00pm

GSES – BATTERY WARRANTIES, INSURANCES AND OTHER RISKS 15 CPD POINTS

Workshop Presenter – Richard Collins

This course will provide the necessary information to consider while designing and installing Grid Connected Energy Systems with Battery Storage (GCBS)

1.00pm – 1.30pm

Workshop Presenter – Jamie Allen

LG CHEM BATTERY TECHNOLOGIES AND RESIDENTIAL APPLICATIONS

An introduction to the range of solutions, compatible inverters and applications with the LG Chem range of RESU and standalone lithium batteries.

2.00pm – 3.30pm

GSES – ANATOMY OF A LITHIUM ION BATTERY, 15 CPD POINTS

Workshop Presenter – Winnie Fu

This course will delve into the structures, chemistries and mechanisms at play within a Lithium Ion Battery. The course will explore the following:
• The electrode structure of the lithium ion battery
• The factors at play during ion intercalation
• What mechanisms play a role in degradation
• What has actually happened when a lithium ion battery has degraded
• How do different chemistries influence the performance of the lithium ion battery

3.30pm – 4.30pm

SHENZHEN PAVILION WORKSHOP

The session will bring together companies from the Shenzhen region, to share advances in product innovation and the future of Energy Storage
